The climate change deniers are just as bad as the climate change panicers. Humans are having a definite impact on global climate, that is indisputably proven by science though the extent of what is our impact versus what is a natural warming cycle can be debated.

Of course it was warmer in the past and the whole thing is cyclic anyway. Thats not news. The thing that is very concerning is the rate of change. Our activities are changing it far too quickly for the ecosystem to adapt.

Either we're going to come up with some fantastic new tech to save our asses, or many of us will starve. The rest of the ecosystem will be fine someday, but it'll look a whole lot different than it did 100 years ago.

From someone in Agriculture, our business in the last ten years wouldn't be sustainable without heavy financial intervention from the government. Your assessment is bang on. If this continues, eventually crops will fail more often than yield and we will be done at our current population levels.

It’s shocking to see the world pop doubling to these levels in my lifetime..

No shit, already up by three billion screaming shitheads since I was born. Maybe China's child birth limits weren't all that crazy.

Almost all the rapid growth is in South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia now where having more kids is basically an entertainment and a retirement plan all in one. Until those areas can sustain their elders without nineteen kids, it's going to keep getting worse albeit slowly now as India and China continue to lower their birth rates.

It happens just about twice in each lifetime. It’s a geometric progression and unfortunately those aren’t linear.

A single volcanic eruption can produce greater climate change that man has on his entire existence. The theory that a meteor impact changed the climate and led to massive die off of plants and animals is mor or less accepted. To say man in his short time on this earth is just unacceptable to some.

That might be true but there’s the amount of atmospheric carbon levels historically and since the Industrial Revolution.

That may be, but in the time before man walked the earth, the atmospheric carbon levels were significantly higher than they are today. And, the average surface temperature of the earth was 140*.

As was stated, everything cycles. (Independent of man...)

Climate change always brings the armchair Carl Sagans out of the woodwork.

If you're taking the way-back machine 500 plus million years your discussion isn't complete unless you include how differences in the earth's orbital pattern and solar radiation effected CO2 and temperatures.

Eventually the sun will burn out. So, yes,, everything is cyclical. But that's a pretty dumb argument to make in the realm of science and actual real data.

Your argument loses credibility when you make person attacks.

The point I was making obviously went over your head. I've read "science and actual real data" too. A lot of the data out there today is hand picked, to make a certain argument. Unfortunately, like so much else, politics has entered into / taken control of the discussion. The actual data is very difficult to find, if it can be found at all.

That being said, I'm out. This forum does not allow political discussions - I'm going back to talking about trucks and space.

Better check your numbers. Volcanoes put out about 1% of what humans do.

    Not even close.

It’ll stay about 10 A.U out- somewhere around Saturn’s orbit.

Article says “ an aphelion distance of about 55,000 AU (0.9 ly)”.

Meanwhile, the Voyagers are still under 20 hours of light travel if I recall correctly.

    Crazy distances..
