I know that back in the shuttle days, the "commander" did the flying, and the "pilot" was ... backup? Assistant? Something like that. I kinda wonder if that is being carried forward here? Chari ("Commander") has a test pilot background, while Marshburn ("Pilot") has a stronger medical background (but is also a pilot and all that). All that said, this is Crew Dragon - they're all pretty much just along for the ride and as backup to the flight computers anyway.

I think all you said is accurate. Always has been from my understanding. Some extreme examples being during the Gemini program where the Commander was the Command Pilot and the other was just the Pilot. Also, the Lunar Module Pilot didn't fly the LM, the Commander did. This was also evident during the Inspiration 4 mission.

I may have missed it being mentioned but Netflix has a documentary series on the Inspiration 4 program. Pretty heavy on personalities but there's some geekage too.

 

I saw a snippet of a story that people are calling for NASA to change the name of this. Any idea why?

Pretty much just boils down to the fact that James Webb was a white guy in the 60's and overly sensitive whiners don't like it.
