While I may not like it, I'd laugh my ass off if something did happen. Just like if something bad had happened to Shatner. I wouldn't have liked it, and I'm in no way a trekkie, but I would have laughed my ass off.

Oh wait, JWST. Yeah. Man. They'd better not fsck that one up. The 'not latching' solar on Lucy is already jinxing everything.

I’m thinking disintegration on re-entry. The Booster will do fine.

You think the shielding isn't going to work?

It’s falling off during static fire tests. But since it’s getting dropped in the gulf anyway they may do the orbital launch anyway. Not sure they’d get approval knowing of imminent failure though.

They’re still popping off with the static fires…

I hope it doesn’t disintegrate. It would be a remarkable achievement on the first try if it stays intact :rocket:

They’ll learn stuff either way but more if there’s something left to examine afterwards.

Different acoustic environment with lots of ground reflections during a static. The ground pad is literally a slab-o-concrete underneath and the GSE some welded tubing.

They'll probably activate the launch abort system and scuttle it if it survives the landing in water.

The flip side of this is this was only 1 engine firing, super heavy is 33. That said, everything is still in the prototype phase. The fastening system is prone and likely to change.

    This is surprising.
I would think they’d want to safe it for further examination like the @bagleboy said.

They scuttled the last one that survived a water landing. Even if they can safe the booster or rocket, I am unaware of them having anything that could remove it from the water, let alone something to mount it on once it is out of the water.
