I was thinking they might be hopping a Booster into the arms once they get a few hover tests out of the way. Seems like a big jump to drop from orbit in a catch attempt on test 2.

In any case, I hope things start flying soon. SN15 was 7 months ago. They’re gonna start forgetting stuff :D

good to hear, Hubble has taken some of the best photo's that I've ever seen. Millions of people are completely oblivious to what lies in our own solar system.

On a less mainstream space subject, anyone been out to the Very Large Array in NM?
It’s a decently close drive for me, I enjoy seeing it from time to time. We also have the Observatory in Sunspot up in the southern NM mountains, that’s an interesting spot as well.

I have not but am interested in seeing some pics or hearing more about it from your perspective.

It does seem less risky to test the arms on an offshore platform not so immediate to the tank farm and other facilities but it will need to work in that environment eventually. Also , unless the platform can transfer to a drone ship as well the SH will be stuck there.

The platforms float though, so technically they could just build a tower, tow it out there, catch it, and then tow it back.

Radio astronomy is pretty cool, and it's an iconic site.

I could see an elevator being used to lower SH to sea level.

Seems like it shouldn’t end so much as shift to a licensing requirement. A pilots license isn’t just a badge of honor but a proof of qualification.
I suppose if rtls slightly limits payload they could deploy a catch tower drone ship for some launches like they do for f9 and fh. But I thought the whole idea for sh was for rtls and rapid relaunch.

I’ll have to dig up some pictures, I haven’t been out since I got a new phone and my old one blue screened so I don’t have those anymore.

I like the structures behind the science, for me it’s always been the mechanics of the antennas and the machines that translate it all. The whole process to get to the final results.

Sorry to hear about your phone. Happened to me a few models ago so I’m kinda paranoid about saving what I want to from it…

I have a similar perspective on the science- know any effort on your part is greatly appreciated
