    Just getting it anywhere would kill the deal. The idea I’d like to see resurface is what they used on the Nekton Pilot to improve stability, basically instead of a single hull it had 2 submerged hulls housing the engines and fuel with the rest of the boat supported on pylons above the waves. The hulls were below wave action and the populated areas above so it had amazing stability. Engine room access was through the pylons.     That boat is a PIECE OF SHIT. It was falling apart and a horrific mess during DESERT STORM. She wasn't nuclear, so those steam plants would have to be replaced considering they're older than I am.

    Elon could purpose-build a specialty ship for half of what it would cost to make that hunk of barely floating rust seaworthy again.

    I’ve been hearing about the Kitty Hawk since I was a kid. In reading up on her demise, I see the JFK had a similar fate. Years ago the JFK was in Boston and offered public tours. I jumped on the chance. No matter the condition known to those who know, they’re amazing pieces of shipbuilding.
