The thing that really sucks about vsfb is the view. That's where I watched a launch. 3-4 miles away with a mountain in the way of the view of the pad.

An inner voice simply says "damn" in amazement each time I watch a SpaceX first stage land.

When it launched I saw a HUGE light behind a mountain, then 10-15 seconds later the rocket broke over the peak and man are those engines bright. A short bit later the boom hits you and doesn't stop. 3+ miles away and it's setting off car alarms. Was awesome, but would have loved to be closer, with a view of the pad. A landing would have been cool too.

Best place to watch on VSFB (if you have base access) is the area just south of beach blvd. Otherwise, make it out onto the beach before they close (maybe). VIPs get to go to the gun club.

I feel your pain. Had a similar experience when I saw STS-122 launch. You want to be this close, right?!

Just slap in an extra ring section with outward-facing seats for folks in space suits. Man that'd be a hell of a ride. Might want a bit more separation between the stages before doing second stage ignition, though.

I'm down for the spacesuit ride :p As long as it's RTLS, falling off a falcon if the wx gets bad on the barge would kinda suck.

I mean of course we all have preferences, but if they're gonna let us do it, I'm down for either.

I'm just wondering how you get to the stage of development of scheduling the payload delivery....with a satellite that's not completed?
