I met him about 20 years ago, well after the space race, so he wasn't focused on being an astronaut. (Of course, was he when he was an astronaut? I've heard stories...)

He wasn't nearly as friendly and outgoing as I expected - seemed like a grumpy old man.

Perhaps my expectations were too high.

Or perhaps overshadowed by how nice John Glenn was.

    I suppose that could be.

I also met Gene Cernan. Great guy. Very personable.

Cernan then Lovell seem like the two Apollo guys you'd want to go out on the town with most. At least imo.

Jim Lovell became huge in the VA so much that he has an entire medical center named after him. Truly beloved and respected by benefits and medical staff alike.

I don't know much but I do know it wasn't my crew. I was on the Mobile Launcher for about an hour before the storms yesterday.

I know its a rehearsal but Nasa is trying to get every inexperienced person seasoned because they know they have a lot of shuttle holdovers hanging in for one more launch and then sailing into the sunset.

I read up to 4 strikes near the pad but the system did it’s job.

    As always, thanks :hattip:

So it's a personnel issue, not an equipment issue?

No it is an equipment issue. They flood the pad base with Gn2 which is where all ECS systems are contained, which also supplies a purge of Breathing air or helium on the Orion capsule. They have exhaust fans for post launch to vent the pad base after launch. Only one fan is functional. Nasa requires two to be functional to proceed.
