The LH2 vent valve that they couldn't get to cycle, I installed and serviced that in years passed. We tested and tested and tested and tested to make sure timing was tight, no delays when signal was sent, the travel was the correct length...they can be very finnicky. We would sit there and have Nasa test director cycle that valve from 4 miles away hundreds and hundreds of times and I would be sitting there with a caliper on the glands making sure each time it cycled it traveled the exact same length. Sometimes it would, sometimes it wouldn't. Then I would have to figure out why it wasn't consistent.

Yes for a period of time and then absolutely nothing would change and we wouldn't be getting signal or they would call for it to go half open and it would open a quarter or call for full open and it would open a half. This was during more of a construction phase where we would have camera guys, fireex systems, welders with fire blankets guys crawling all over our skid of valves and it was very easy for something to get kicked and knock everything out of whack.

Ah. Do you think you and your guys will be called back out to replace the valve?

That valve is no longer an immediate concern of mine, they have plenty of expertise to fix it, it's just going through the process and procedure of alterations to the paperwork that is directing the work flow. Paper always dictates the action, there is 60 years of experience in Lh2 shop between 2 guys, they only move when the paper is correct.

I'll ask them whats up with it and pass it along when I hear but as far as my supervision knows...wet dress is pushed until next week.

Yep hard push to get Ax1 launched and C4 launched while Sls is at a stopping point. Brass says they are competing for resources w/ SLS.

    Corroded closed?

Like someone tried to open it, couldn’t, then said, “fuck it” and left it at that?

Maybe @Hunterdc1 can weigh in but reading the tweet again, seems like there was a valve that was supposed to be opened at some point in pre-launch procedures but was missed.

Last year’s stuck valves on the Starliner seemed to me to be remotely, automated valves that got corroded over time. Not manual valves.
