    I’m gonna guess it was me. Elon presented at some sort of global space conference a year or so ago and I put myself in college course note taking mode. I posted it here and that was one of his points..

    Makes sense to me. More than half of our traffic is checkpoint updates between our core systems with offsite backup failover systems. It's an insane amount of data, moving constantly. It happens automatically, all programmed to maintain redundancy. In comparison, most of our internet traffic is to internal systems (most tools are browser based now) so the only external traffic we have is circumstantial.

    Less than 1% of our traffic is YouTube or Facebook because the sheer volume of our core business systems and the medical records system.

    YouTube has 500 hours of video uploaded every hour. YouTube also has several algorithms to monitor said video for rank placement, auto generated subtitles, obscene content, copyright infringement for both audio and video, and probably several others.

    That said. If the video is uploaded to THEIR servers, and processed through their servers, does it count as internet? It's problems like this that make most statistics questionable.

    I thinks it's because the US has options that are more like a bag of chips, all spacious and filled with air instead of the sardine can where you can taste each other's farts.
