I guess some folks at MacD/Boeing have been been poking their noses in the wrong puffers.
Does anyone really think a manned Starliner will launch with the same valve design that keeps malfunctioning? Outsourced production of an in-house design and neither willing to admit fault = not good moving forward (or any other direction).

Most aerospace companies outsource production. I've had conversations with customers complaining that our parts won't work and we need to change the design and should have known that before assembly.

Problem is we were a machine shop. We make parts to customer specifications using their models, their prints, etc. Most the time you don't even know what the part is, so you can't know if it's going to work for it's intended purpose. All you know is that it is exactly what they asked you to make down to the 0.001".

In breaking news Elon Musk refuses to pay his taxes until the FAA proves that all 75 actions are actually necessary actions and not just wasted time. He's also looking for more lawyers to form the bestest litigation team to sue the FAA for something, he doesn't know what yet, but he'll keep everyone on the loop through Twitter.

I was reading the preliminary NHTSA findings against Tesla's autopilot...and Elon's in a world of pending hurt. It's pretty damning, and the code don't lie.

TBF his engineers have always told him any system, especially one based only on cameras, was never going to be safe without some level of driver input. The only person at Tesla claiming self driving cars, using camera only input without driver intervention, are safe is Elon.

I mean what's the worst that will happen? Tesla will finally drop its stock price to where it belongs? Probably not a bad thing other than for daddy Elon.

Except from my understanding they haven't actually looked at code yet. From what I've read they looked at statistics, found some potential anomalies and are now going to have some specialists look at the code.

I don’t have a problem with the business model or the company that made them. It’s the management of the issue. These valves have been an ongoing problem(among others)that came up again even with the mostly successful unmanned mission to ISS. No way are they gonna put people on it as it is. As far as I’m concerned it’s on Boeing/MacD, since it’s their contract it’s their responsibility. Down the road if they can prove it was flawed manufacturing and not a flawed design they can sue to get money but that won’t put butts in the seats. Bottom line is still getting the job done whether it’s outsourced like B/M or in house like Spacex. Since the merger it hasn’t gone well for Boeing.
