Right, HLS is a Starship...just painted white and with a NASA worm logo. I wasn't aware that it could be launched on a F9SH though.

HLS will not be launched on a Falcon Heavy (3 F9s strapped together) (It’s not referred to as an F9SH, just F9 Heavy or Falcon Heavy)

HLS will be launched by the Super Heavy aka Booster (the one in current development with the 33 Raptor engines).

How? F9SH is just an acronym for Falcon 9 Super Heavy. You type out F9 Super Heavy, I just don't want to type all that out...

 

F9 and F9H are falcons.

SH is not a F9.

 

Falcon Heavy is classified as a Heavy Lift vehicle and when fully expended, can get into the Super Heavy range.

Think I said super heavy and not falcon heavy. What I’m curious about is how they would rondezvous the hls and Orion without a gateway station.

We were having issues, per the usual with somebody elses equipment that effects me and my guys. Nasa has been a great help greasing the squeaky wheel per se through this whole process.

 

Could you imagine a Falcon Super Heavy? It would look like SLS!

Since they both will have universal docking clamps in the nose, probably nose to nose...

 

Strap 2 more F9s on the opposite axis for a FH and you’d have the coolest, reusable Korolev Cross ever!

 

Gonna need more landing pads for that.

2 to drone ships, 2 rtls, and catch the core stage. Or just land it in a convenient parking lot. Probably only need 6 empty spaces. As accurate as they’ve become they could probably do a synchronized landing of all 5 on just one pad. I can see it now, the next super bowl will have a 5-star constellation of boosters land in a pattern around the stadium. So much for parachute drops.

 

Would be great to see all the cars windows explode!

 

Or just land it on BOs new drone ship.
