To be fair, even though it didn't look like it slowed at all, even a couple foot of cushion on landing can reduce the G-forces dramatically. I had an incident in my iceboat that took me from 55mph (as seen on my gps tracking) to 0 in less than 20 feet and I was completely uninjured, not even a bruise.

Glad you were ok, and the ice boat?

    There was damage, but fixable.

There's a huge Neutral Buoyancy Lab about 7 miles West of SpaceX.

If they spent one day in a pool then the next off the coast of Catalina Island, I’d hazard a guess it was at the neutral buoyancy facility @R77toy mentioned.

I’d also guess it wasn’t at some scuba school after hours- this is a world class operation.

Just goes to show that there aren’t enough “best people” to go around. The new head of BO spent his time setting up a boardroom he likes which sounds an awful lot like the direction Boeing took with a notable drop in results.

To be fair, they probably wouldn't have gotten much else accomplished had he not been remodeling the boardroom. Bezos is only giving them 1 billion a year, which sounds like a lot, but in space and rocket development thats a drop in the bucket. Most rockets have predicted a 10 billion R&D budget, so it will take them a decade just to get the vudget needes to build a rocket.

I said after hours because they probably want to avoid publicity, also SpaceX tested the mini sub thing to rescue the kids in the cave in the local gym, after hours

Life ain’t fair. ULA might be stuck with the deal this time but development contracts won’t be forthcoming if they persist in playing small ball.

SpaceX is on the record saying the F9 is good to fly ## times before major refurbishment (or something along those lines).

    I wonder:
    1) If we’re bumping up against that number; and
    2) If a major refurbishment includes a wash, clay, and wax.

Do you know if that's B1058-14?
