Yeah but you’re still going flat out balls to the walls to get there(relative to before launch) which is why it takes so much effort to get back in one piece or go from earth’s solar orbit to get into Venus or Mercury orbit.
I get plenty of opportunities to chew on my feet here already. I’d expect a day or more inspecting the engines and going over data before another round. Think they’ll up the count using more of the remaining 19 or what? Another video I saw I could see and hear crap raining down all over even behind the tank farm so maybe the tarmac will need some love at some point.

So, what are folks guesses for how tonight’s SLS attempt is going to go? My bet is a scrub after issues during the first half of tanking, but that’s me. Hydrogen is a tricky thing, and I’m guessing they’ll find at least one new leak.

Either that or it blows when they push the magic button. Do they still have a button or is it all automated these days?

NASA has a two-hour launch window at 1:04 a.m. EST Wednesday.
I believe that would be tonight, a bit after midnight.

They have built in leak tolerances because Hydrogen is so notorious for leaking. I'm saying mission success.

I don't know if you saw @PzTank post the Elon Musk tweet, but they will try for 20 engines next.

Jim, will you be waking up in the middle of the night to watch SLS (hopefully) launch?

Oooo. It’s tempting. What’s the chances it’ll scrub on the ‘first’ attempt?!?!

    How about you?

Also, the tweet said 20 second SF but didn’t mention how many engines..

The window is 120 minutes, so I doubt it will be an immediate lift off. Unless they slapped some Flex Seal on the hydrogen umbilicals.

I will be up watching it with my daughter.

I don't know about how many engines. I guess 20 engines for 20 seconds, but it could even be 33 engines for 20 seconds. That way, they test all of them at once for long enough to get a peak if they will operate norminal or not as well as test the ulage gas pressurization.

Apparently no flex seal needed for the hydrogen:

By all reports, tanking seems to go smoothly!

Glad to hear you’re enjoying it with your daughter

They’re going to have to address the tarmac, and soon. Not all the videos I watched showed this occurring but it was pretty dramatic. They need to cover it with something that isn’t as friable since they opted for such a short distance from nozzle to ground. I had hoped the deluge system would work better for this but while it might work for sound it didn’t help for this.
