You’ve might have heard the first radio signals from the early 1900s are still going out past our solar system. Some have said these would alert alien races to our presence. Well, if you’re in this camp, fear not…E3AD8AAC-A098-449D-9079-38966E2A8743.jpg

The same holds true for SETI. Anything generated by coinhabitors won’t be arriving anytime soon. We may not be alone but chances are it’s still a lonely universe.

Agreed. Though it depends on when the alien civilization started to broadcast. We might get a signal and who sent it could already be extinct.

Given even the smallest distances involved that’s more likely than not. We’ll have to survive another 75,000 years for our own noise to reach just the other side of the Milky Way and 2.5 million for it to reach Andromeda.

Now the conjecture starts for Artemis III: I have $10 on Jessica Meir and Raja Chari for the landing.

Also, keep your eye on Glover from a piloting perspective. He will be certified for Orion on top of his certification for Dragon. That’s halfway to 4, the most spacecraft certification by a NASA astronaut
John Young. 1) The Gemini capsule 2) The Apollo CM 3) The Apollo LM and 4)The Space Shuttle.

Anyone else see the full ceremony? I got to on YT when I got home.
Really nice to see the full NASA Astronaut Corps out there! (I won’t spoil how they were announced.)

We’ll, someone will have to be certified for the HLS I presume. And probably another lander soon as well, maybe the Dynetics Alpaca. Still, they’ll either have to raise the lifetime exposure limit or improve shielding to allow more missions or mission time. Otherwise they’ll keep losing the best qualified people just as they gain experience.

Kinda makes the Jovian moons a bit less attractive as habitable real estate. I suppose one of the things we can learn on the moon is how to improve our shielding. For starters like going from wooden shields to Patriot missiles(passive to active defense) and then continuing to level up from there. Going “Interstellar” will require more than a few quantum leaps in this ability and these increasingly hostile environments we encounter along the way will be the benchmarks.

NASA’s WB-57 reserved for Monday and Tuesday. It flies at ~60,000 ft w/cruising time 6 plus hrs. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Bn9fC5kJiSI
We’ll see if the license comes down or the reservation gets canceled. It has before.
