Ah, yes. Sawyer has been a commentator for about 3-4 months and Ryan just started last month. Ian has been a commentator for a couple of years.

Not much time to work on it if they have to destack and run it back to the high bay, fix the valve(wherever it is), then bring it back, reststack, and preflight. Unless it’s right there at the QD where it can be serviced from the umbilical arm. This would take any other rocket weeks minimum. Didn’t A1 take more than a month when it missed its launch attempt? Edit 2 -1/2 months (August 29 to November 16).

There are 3 "hold down" clamps that keep Ship attached to Booster. Just no push mechanism for shoving Ship away from Booster.

Yeah you can see the booster part in the pics Pztank linked I just haven’t seen enough on how they operate to have a clear understanding. “ or – in SpaceX’s case – spring-like mechanisms that can be tested on the ground and reused.” doesn’t really paint much of a picture. It appears from one shot showing the aft skirt of a ship not quite mated to the forward section of a booster being slightly rotationally offset. With gimbaling the Raptors being the method to unlatch and then flick the booster away(much lighter than the ship by this point). I can hope for some neat graphics on this later on.

Mostly stock - but I do have a suction cup phone holder - its pretty sweet
I was there for the launch. We drove down from Georgetown and rented a hotel Sunday night. I imagine there is no intentional delay, but the fact that the launch date is now 4/20 and how many times he has referenced that, it seems a little too coincidental! lol

I don’t think I will be driving down again to see this launch - but certainly will when either are supposed to be caught by the arms!

I honestly think this launch date was just as iffy as the first Artemis launch attempt if not more so. The primary issue with that seemed to be caused by the use of hydrogen as fuel which ought to be pretty much worked out in the 75 years since the beginning of Apollo. This is new fuel, new OLM approach, new stage integration method and timing, new engine & cycle method plus who knows how many other things due to reusability(compounding what each of those might entail makes my head spin). What this has going for it is ultimately the lack of complete success as a mission requirement but it still absolutely has to get airborne. I’d go see every attempt if I could but for many of us even one visit is too big an ask for a doubtful launch. Heck, I’d love to see an F9 from Vandenberg and that’s only a 6 hour drive and more of a sure thing. If I were local(Boca Chica) I’d be looking into leveraging this as a tourism opportunity.

I agree. I went into knowing the possibility of it being scrubbed - but I was hopeful.

And I completely agree with you on the tourism opportunity. We saw a lot of construction going and several houses/condos that had great views of the launch area - and if I had the means - those would become rentals for the crew or AirBNBs for launch windows. What we did talk about is how often SpaceX will be launching from Boca Chica. Is this the new Vandenburg? (sorry if this has already been discussed here - I stumbled onto this thread and the youtube channels I watch haven't mentioned this that I remember).
