I think the SpaceX launch is going to o give some good pics. Could see it down here in San Diego and was seeing some awesome light rays coming off of it. Wasn't expecting to even be able to see it but went out just to check and left my phone inside...

falcon 9.jpg falcon 9- 2.jpg Just watched a Space X Falcon 9 rocket over the Pacific tonight. It was carrying 15 Starlink satellites and lifted off at 9:06 PST from the Space Force Base at Vandenburg CA, 280mile NW of San Diego. Also seen the second stage burn up over the ocean like piece of hot coal. Seen it from my living room, pretty cool. Next one is on 7/30/23. My girlfriend posted a live feed on YouTube (It starts @ 18:25 into the video) and will soon upload a video if you're interested. PS, ignore the narration https://www.youtube.com/live/Y3ydJ3XTUpE?feature=share

My shop was on the runway at SLF for every single landing. STS landed on Thursday and 60% of my shop was laid off on Friday. They knew it was coming but it was still a tough pill to swallow.

Just saw where Amazon is building a new Satellite Processing Facility at LLF the old Shuttle landing facility. That is great news for us.

Falcon 9 rocket from the other day. Looked about the same size as a large firework from 40 mi south until it seemed to be high enough to reach sunlight since it was just after dusk here.

A buddy who drove closer to watch it said the fog was too thick to see much.

    Was this a dogleg trajectory?

This article says it has a dogleg trajectory to turn east to avoid the Channel Islands. That somewhat surprises me since the islands are due south, would be interesting to see the flight path. My pics are looking southwest from 40 miles southeast. Looks like it goes out and around the islands.
