Agreed. i'd rather see our best and brightest focus on more important matters...and i said important, not impotent:D.

Just laying out possible scenarios. I'd like to know what humans would do about that kind of stuff
Didn't read that but even if it does no telling how big the comets would be or if they'd hit

    Bald is beautiful :)

Guys, I agree with all of you.

But just imagine how happy our scientists will be working with full heads of hair and a howitzer in their pants? Even as the available pool of American scientists and engineers diminish, they'll at least be happy.

Since we are talking about space, I'd cautiously like to breach the subject of life on other planets.....Personally, with the amount of habitable planets out there, I believe something else has to be forming or has formed out there. What is your guys thoughts on this? If you guys think this could result in a shitting up of this thread, let me know and Ill delete this post.

Good point. The probablility of another planet being in the habitable zone is too high.. and even on top of that who's to say that other life forms aren't able to live where humans are not? We have developed the ability to go into space, why can't another life form develop the same ability but for longer terms? Or that they haven't adapted to other gaseous levels?

It's a mathematical impossibility that we are the only planet to have life

Yes, I think what people hold on to is that they think other life has to look like us or the "aliens" they see in movies.. life could be anything from bacteria to fish to things that act like humans. Also just because we designed things one way doesn't mean life out there hasn't figured out a better way.

A neutron star is so dense that one teaspoon (5 milliliters) of its material would have a mass over 5.5×1012 kg, about 900 times the mass of the Great Pyramid of Giza. Hence, the gravitational force of a typical neutron star is such that if an object were to fall from a height of one meter, it would only take one microsecond to hit the surface of the neutron star, and would do so at around 2000 kilometers per second, or 7.2 million kilometers per hour.

In English terms: Dropping anything from three feet high would cause it to hit the surface going about 4.47 million miles per hour! From zero to 4.47 million miles per hours in three feet, that is some acceleration for you!

The fact we have animals on this planet, living at 7000ft below sea level, and in 750degree heat, shows what is possible on other planets where conditions mimic these ones.
