No, not it’s not. The graphic shows it splashing down perilously close to Hawaii :D

I think we can all agree that much
:D:thumbsup::fistbump::amen::bananadance::bowdown::burnrubber::cheers::dancingbacon::broccoli::bikewheelie::bikewheelie2::drunk::muscleflexing::jellydance::kona::locked::101010::oldglory::rocket::taco::woot::yay::yay::yay::yes::yes::yes:will happen if it succeeds to that extent and only slightly less if the ship achieves separation and initiates its burn but fails to achieve its planed trajectory.

Not to disagree but if it’s that perilous then why is it used as a graveyard for missile test launches? :nuclear:
I presume it’s to avoid any accusations that we’re putting any other countries or their citizens at risk while being able to keep a watchful eye on the debris field.

Awesome - and totally what you'll experience if you drive out there. My visit was early 2022. For me it's a 30+ hour drive each way, so as much as I'd like knock "see a rocket launch in person" off my bucket list, not this time. That is unless they give a solid 3 day heads up, then maybe.

I think it comes down to proven versus experimental. The Merlin is a proven design with a "standard" fuel. The Raptor is nearly a brand new design with an under used fuel.

In this case the Raptor burns might be for deorbit, decel, and landing (no particular order) but it’s hard to find burns of a duration to reach stage separation for sea levels or orbit for Rvacs. They’re up over 300 units now so at some point longevity has to take precedence over production speed even if “longevity” is measured in minutes instead of flights. I guess I’m saying if they aren’t ready they need to break more.

I know they did many full duration buns before IFT-1. I also imagine that some may be some R3s on the stand and we wouldn't be able to tell just by the plume.

The Livestream provides that info(oops only sea level vs rvac, not R2 vs R3). I’m starved, want more. It wouldn’t surprise me to hear Musk tweet about a lengthy succession of successful tests. The lack of that boast qualifies his 60% to orbit bet. I’ll certainly concede that satisfying my cravings isn’t high on their to do list but his might be.

I read there’s some equipment at 39-A they need for the upcoming F-9 unmanned lunar mission, maybe super chillers?

Cant comment on super chillers but I saw 39 today and it had a Falcon on it waiting to be stood up. I always remind you guys I dont follow x but rumor is they are giving up lz-1 and lz-2 and moving landing ops to a new site at 40. Havent seen evidence of that. Also hearing X is trying hard to secure 37 from ula when they give up that pad after the last Delta launches. Been hearing that rumor for years now and makes sense. 37 is a great pad and would make more sense for Starship imo.
