Intuitive Machines =

 

Intuition is the holy grail of ai. ie the ability to not only extrapolate but free associate, recognize, and anticipate the key parameters while downgrading irrelevant data. I’m thinking the piloting skills needed to land consistently on the moon are still a bit beyond current programming. And unless NASA maintains the level of flight skills Apollo pilots had, crewed lunar landings might suffer similar irregularities. It’s obviously not the same thing as preprogrammed docking in space and even shuttle pilots never did as much. I hope whoever ends up piloting that first HLS mission is well prepared to land it manually.

Be a hell of a ride! Understandable about not letting either prime or backup crew try it.

 

It’s what test pilots do but in this case an engineer with knowledge of the system should also be along for the ride since both perspectives are needed.
