My own opinion is that if it’s big enough for gravity to make it round it’s a planet.

The beauty of science is the fact that when new information is known science can adapt and change. When Pluto was discovered there was no information about the 50 other dwarf planets orbiting the sun. So, if pluto is a planet so are those other 50 dwarfs. Bottom line pluto was incorrectly labeled when it was found. New discoveries have changed the science and I think that is beautiful.
totally agree - pluto is the first and biggest, so far, item found in the kuiper belt. I googled why isn't pluto a planet and it has been a fun rabbit hole to go down. And, some how the correction of pluto's classification makes me happy. Yeah science!

While a good thought, and even though Pluto has a moon, it still hasn't cleared it's orbit of other solar bodies.

Not sure but I think it’s actually in doubt that they reclassified it correctly even using their own criteria. I’ve no problem with 50 more planets, the more the merrier, but if the majority of scientists can agree on something it should probably be accepted so it, Charon, Ceres and the rest can be dwarves if that’s what they want. But for me, if it looks like a duck… don’t call it a witch.

To be fair it has many times the volume of space to clear in far, far fewer orbits in any given time span. Could say, Mercury complete that task out there?

I have to wonder if they’re trying to convince themselves it’s ok to launch with known issues and relying on redundancy(which seems an extraordinarily bad idea. If redundancy is required then it ought to be there). I mean, what is there to discuss otherwise, it’s either all green or it isn’t. Starting with a cargo version and getting several years worth of launches under the belt with a lower threshold certainly worked out for Spacex and we’ll see if SS can repeat that success. Trying to certify Starliner for crewed flight from the get go is proving problematic with only a few flights to work out the kinks. Given their experience it shouldn’t have been such a protracted process but maybe the experience has long left the building.

Shitty time to be an astronaut assigned to the Starliner. Can’t imagine the shit they talk behind closed doors.

I wonder how their contracts are worded. It has to be difficult to stay ready but I’ll bet they’ve worked through a shit ton of emergency simulations trying to do so.

If you feel a rumble, you can't do anything, you're dead. If you hear a crack, can't do nothing, you're dead. If you hear a boom and feel more g's than you should, use them to kiss your ass goodbye, cus your probably dead.
