And there it is…Gonna be interesting to see if the FAA still can do such stuff after next Monday…

Interesting, you’ll see there’s a mishap investigation for BO too, funny there’s no tweet about that..

Their interests are aligned tbh, I don't see a lot of pushback unless the FAA doesn't stamp their fixes (aka SpX doesn't want the rocket blowing up either)

EMs statement ‘nothing to see here’ immediately after and then how the next booster and ship are ready to fly makes me think he wants to keep ‘em flying and not grounded…

'needs moar venting and fire suppression (and check the leaks)' are actionable items, to which the FAA can say 'sufficient' or 'insufficient' and I'm gonna bet that SpX is poring over all the data and writing a report as we speak. EM's off the cuff stuff is likely based on actual data from the vehicle, after all, from their internal data views.

Admin stuff like 'make debris zones wider', etc, might be more of a holdup since that requires FAA action.

I certainly hope so. I’m all in favor of streamlining the process to some extent but it’s just not a good idea to have self regulation or even too cozy a relationship with the regulators. Something that big blows up when it isn’t supposed to damn well should cause for a pause to identify exactly why. Was there any response to NG-1?

In all likelihood any pause called for won’t actually delay FT-8 since Spacex will be using the time to implement stop gap measures for current ships while they make design changes for following ships. It could turn out to be something fixable by using the next Raptors though I still think those might wait until they can catch both stages.

This is rad, the new ways to show data are pretty awesome. Makes looking at publications a lot more interesting for even the casual reader.

ARS has an article today about Butch and Suni that sums it all up.

Ha ... I don't repost the regularly scheduled F9 starlink stuff ... and I guess in ten years I won't be caring about the regularly scheduled Super Heavy landings from starlink launches either.
