Senator Shelby is going to squeeze every drop of fat out of that pork barrel and Boeing is going to stretch that cost plus contract as long as possible

I've learned a lot about government program management over the last 5 years, and I can't completely blame Boeing for this. Gov't puts so much overhead BS into any test and development cycle that agile projects...aren't. SpaceX and Blue Origin, among others, are able to rapidly adopt and prototype technologies in an arena that the government can't because of the rules it sets for itself. IDEALLY...these new relationships are what should have always been. The government says "I need to perform TASK X" and opens the doors for vendors to bid. It fell into the fallacy of being its own rocket/space company in the 70s when the Apollo program ended and the STS program began.

I think that government budget constraints finally convinced the industry that profit lie in doing it better than the gov't, thus there was motivation for private industry to find better/cheaper/faster ways to conduct spacelift. Spacelift is where air power was right at the end of WWI, and we're only one or two more breakthroughs away from it taking off like flight did in the 1930s.

    Can't wait to see it!

I really hope this is true. I'd like to see space colonization before I die. Or at the very least, have space travel become cheap enough that I can go into space.

I just read that Jose Serrano, D-NY, is "extremely concerned" about the rushed 2024 timeline. He would like to see the timeline reset to 2028. He thinks the date might have been "political" in its choosing.

While I agree 2024 may be a rushed date, who is going to pay for the additional 4 years with nothing to show for the expense?

We are on track for a Green Run early next year, and hopefully a flight late next year.

It's all about politics, Shelby wants to do what's best for his constituants, the Democrats want to screw Trump any way they can, Trump wants a US woman and man on the moon before his 2nd term is up, so he can toot his own horn some more, and none of them care how much of your $$ they have to spend to get what they want.

I, for one, think we're going to see a nice shiny SH+SS combo fly long before SLS.
