I tried to get out to FL once for a launch, but it was impossible to plan with all the technical and weather delays/factors.

I should have tried to get to Edwards to see a landing, which would at least have been somewhat doable...

But I got a nice video today form the Sac flyover that I'll try to post later.

Some co-workers also got nice shots. Hundreds of people were lining the Sacramento River promenade, and they were all cheering loudly as it came straight up the river from the south, then did a loop back over downtown.

Yes, everything was better. Somehow we got along with only corded phones and 12 channels of TV and Led Zeppelin, and everything was made in USA, and made to last. I think it is not such a bad idea to go back to that.

My wife's grandmother lived in Cocoa Beach, a stone's throw from Canaveral. My wife got to see many launches when she was a kid. So jelly. She was a Space Camp nerd, too.

    Lucky dog.

I was on the other side of Olive... this was the best view from a block or two away from BWP.

    Pretty much.....

    No.

The Orion/Constellation project was a return to Apollo technology but able to carry a much larger crew. It was to replace the Shuttle on ISS missions and potentially beyond.
It would not have been ready in time for the shuttle retirement, due to it being delayed and the shuttle retirement being moved up after the loss of Columbia, so there would still have been SOME years where we would be reliant upon the Russians to get us to and from the ISS....

But the current Teleprompter-in-chief made the comment "The moon? We've been there", and killed the program.

So now no replacement on the horizon outside of the private industry projects working up at the Mojave Spaceport.

I was on 210 after picking up my truck from a lil love at yota masters. Was so nuts, people all over the place. Stopped on sides of freeway, even double parked in the slow lane!!! It circled us twice cuz we were at the NASA/jpl exit.

It flew right over my school today, luckily I was out of class and got to see it. It was so low I thought I was going to crash into some of the hills. Haha
