I love watching the actual launch. I hope to see one in person one day.

I was in Disney World for the 1st launch after the Comlumbia disaster, it was a very surreal patriotic moment. Everyone stopped where the were and cheered/clapped.

Watching a space shuttle launch from the ground is undoubtedly very awe inspiring, but this video of a launch takes the biscuit: It's filmed from thousands of feet in the air. A lucky guy managed to film a shuttle rocketing off the ground (possibly STS-124) from inside a passing Air Canada airliner. It's less fire, smoke and thunder than a sea-level view, more "Holy crap, look how fast it goes!" Check it out...

^^^ That's pretty cool. NASA should put a plane in the air closer to the launch site(but not dangerously close, of course) and get shots like that w/ a higher-quality camera.

The fuel pumps in the shuttle engines move 50,000 gals of fuel a minute! That is virtually an unimpeded forced volume.....imagine a turpocharged v8 pushing water out your yard hose!!!!!

I love to watch these launches/landings too and I always try to record it on the HD channel. I heard the Apollo launches were bad@ss too, I would have loved to watch those live.

Ok... this isn't totally related, but a video related to the one about the launch was a 'sound-barrier-breaking' video. I watched several of them. I had NO IDEA that you could actually SEE a plane break the sound barrier. The picture below is an example.

There are a number of videos on YouTube that show this happening in real time. Totally awesome.

Nope, launch time is 6:51 p.m. EDT. They said that the space shuttle Endeavour's crew access hatch has been closed, sealed and locked for flight.

At work now, but when I get a chance I'll post up a scanner frequency (if you have one) so you can listen live, everything from launch to land...at times it's kinda quiet, but it can get interesting, specially the launch.:D
