    Hi all,
I've searched here and on the net for mod that increase the height of the Diamondback bed cover but did not find anything.

I plan to build an U shape spacer aluminum bar sitting on top of bed using this 3x3 post from HomeDepot https://www.homedepot.com/p/Slipfen...ce-Post-Includes-Post-Cap-SF2-PK310/303149326

This U shape bar will be clamped on to the bed rails. Then the Diamondback cover HD, SE or 270 will clamp onto this spacer bar.

Another 3x3 space bar will be attached to read lid of Diamondback cover to mate with tailgate and U shape piece.

It would cost a lot to have it fabricated using local aluminum shops. I've asked Diamondback about this, but they have not answered.

My question here is: Did any on you Diamondback cover owners do anything similar to what I planned to do ?

The reason for this is to increase storage height so I can put more stuff on my truck bed.

    Thanks for reading.

Never seen anything like this. Sounds like you need a camper shell.

I was debating camper shell vs tonneau. I go camping few times a year and need truck bed for hauling stuff. Diamondback bed cover will be easier for me to remove and re-install. And the cover cost much less. I got quotes for Snugtop and ARE shell and they are 4K+. The Snugtop lead time is 5-15 weeks.

I am in the same boat as you here. Though I have a soft topper right now, but I want a diamond back.... only problem is that my ice fishing house needs about 3 extra inches of clearance above the bed sides to fit. Unfortunately I dont want to dump the $1800 on a diamond back only for it to not work with my ice house, if I cant haul the ice house then there is no reason for me to even get the cover.

I’ll say I love my Diamondback cover but I do wish it was a couple of inches taller so I could put my fridge in the bed rather than putting it in the cab. If you go this route you’ll need to fabricate / source a few additional items. The locking rods on the cover go into the cargo bed rail for both the front and back pieces. You’d have to fabricate a longer bracket or extension that holds the rod in order for it to still connect to the cargo rail. You’ll also need to source longer clamps for the center piece. The bolt that actuates the clamp only has about .50” to .75” of excess in it. If you need pictures of anything, please let me know.

Snahlaf - you do know most other states think MN are crazy for driving out on the ice much less putting a house on the ice to fish from? When I show them pictures of all the ice house on Mille Lacs they have a difficult time believing it. By the way, you can remove the Diamondback cover in less than 10 minutes.

The spacer will have its own clamps. The DB cover will clamp to the spacer, the locks will also go there, too. So there is no need to mod the DB cover. Thanks for the offer. I will let you know if I need pictures.

I’ve got one and I like the idea of it being taller for a fridge, gas cans , etc…
I have metal side caps so the sides and front seem like they’d be easier than the tailgate.
