ok...I know the general sentiment around here is that spacers are a poor choice. However, I really don’t want to spend money on, nor do I think I have any actual need for, shocks/AAL lift.

I am not a “mall crawler” per say; there are no malls here. Most of my driving is on rural dirt roads and the occasional logging road. That being said, I do not four wheel or anything aggressive and never will. I’m not planning a trip to Moab!

I own a bone stock DCLB OR. I just bought my first pair of aftermarket tires in my life. I got some 265/75/r16 Goodyear UT AT and just want to lift the truck an inch, frankly just for looks, and keep it as close to stock as possible.

In my situation, are spacer lifts really a bad idea or will they be just fine?

Finally, are all spacers basically the same or are some better than others?

    Thanks.

If you’re not off-roading and just want the looks the spacers are your best choice. And I’ve never seen issues with different brands in the front but in the rear I know some people have had their blocks crack in half so I would chose a somewhat reputable brand/store.

Spacers are fine. You know your needs better than us. As long as you know the limitations. I did it

Spacers can be fine. Understand that it will bottom out easier and potentially destroy your strut if it hits hard enough.

Like other poster said, ome springs and Bilstein 5100s can be had for about $400 and would be the superior choice.

I agree with the others, spacers are fine. I choose to run them with no regrets.

I asked the same question for my 2nd gen tacoma and a well respected TW suspension person said that for a minimal 1 inch lift spacers are just fine. I purchased a 1 inch lift kit from Headstrong....hint hint.

If I planned on anything higher I would spend the money on a better system.

Spacers are find for your application...I would stick with a 2 inch front and 1 to 1.5 rear. The stock UCAs will be fine. Choose a kit that comes with front diff. drop as this would eliminate the need to do the ECGS bushing in the front diff. In the future. If you plan on flying over the bumps then increase the size (taller) bump stops this will protect your factory shocks from damage.

I wouldn't write off suspension just because you don't want to drop $2k+. I mean... a suspension lift is never going to be as cheap as 4 blocks of metal, but there are reasonable suspension parts by various manufacturers that aren't Fox/King/Icon/etc. expensive. You can put a 3-leaf AAL in the back for like $150, and swap out the coilovers in front for whatever is in your budget.

If you post your budget, I'm sure you'll get a few recommendations.

Even a Deaver 1.5 AAL will require new shocks. Correct?

(Yeah, kinda jacking the thread) just want to make sure I understand as I’m considering blocks for a short term solution.
