Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
What's your goal? Pose or off road capability? Just for looks, they work...ride quality may suffer some.

I'd suggest making sure the front bump stops get spaced accordingly or you could bottom the shock before the control arm hits the bumpstop which may result in the thin rod OT the bottom of the front shocks collapsing.

Just use high quality, hub centric spacers like Bora or Spidertrax and you'll be fine.

Edit: Here's a pic with 1.25" Spidertrax spacers

I think he means wheel spacers, not tophat spacers.

1.25" Spidertrax spacers......I check the torque with every tire rotation. 15,000+ miles. no issues at all.

Just keep in mind, the more you get away from oem by adding aftermarket parts, the more Toyota reliability goes down. Yes members will tell you they've gone years without issue, but the issues will come in suspension issues, or tire balance issues.

Can you explain a little more on this? Wheel spacers involve neither the balance of your tires nor your suspension. I'm one of those who has gone years with no problems.

1.25 spiderttax wheel spacers for a while no issues. Just make sure they are torqued down and you have nothing to worry about

How many miles on these SpiderTrax spacer installs?

Spacers increase the leverage effect of vehicle weight on the wheel bearings.

Basically you are putting the load "further out" away from the bearings, resulting in an increased angle between the force transmitted up through the tire/wheel assembly into the bearing. This increases the wear rate on the bearings. I read a deep-dive post on it somewhere on TW forums once, it made & makes sense.

Apparently in must not increase wear rate "too much" or people wouldn't use spacers.

Probably it's something along the lines of "lifting the truck increases wear on CV joints," which it certainly does -- but obviously not too much or no one would do it.

265/70 r17 on Sport rims with Spidertrax 1.25" spacers.
I've been running the spacers for more than a year but recently up sized tires to 265/70 from 265/65 stock size.
I like the squat that the wider track gives, but I do grind my passenger side tires against curbs more than before without spacers.
Like others mentioned, check torque every rotation and I have no worries...

i am lifted and on 285/75/16. i went with Irontek 1.25 spacers. cheaper cost than spidertrax. They have been great so far.

Of course the physics in play dictate that the wheel bearing will take on more stress the further out the load is positioned. But as you point out, it's difficult to say definitively how much extra stress is created and even more difficult to determine to what degree that will impact bearing life.

I've had spacers on for nearly 4 years and no trouble as of yet. Every part will fail eventually.

An extra bolt is an additional point for potential failure. I just buy wheels in the offset I want.

allthough your right it is an extra point of failure. if quality is up to par then its so far from being the weak point it really isnt an issue to worry about. i know many still would rather not take the "risk" tho. in my opinion the absolute most important thing is to use the proper extended thread lug nuts not the usual ones that will come with your spacers or even aftermarket wheels in general. scary to think but there are thousands of people driving tacomas around with like 3 threads of engagement on the front wheel studs because they dont know this
