I watched a live launch a few weeks ago, just happened to be scrolling through on youtube. It was awesome...even from a computer monitor. The booster detached and was coming back into earth’s gravity, I was watching as it was auto stabilizing on it’s decent. Then got squirrelly and they cut the live feed. WTF!
Yeah I know that wasn’t the mission, but it was funny how they played it off..

    What’s this next launch for?

The satilite is part of a system of satellites for global real time aircraft surveillance. Remember MH370, the 777 that went off course and disappeared over the ocean? No one could determine where it went, because there was no aircraft tracking over remote oceans. This system aims to solve that issue.

Iridium network is used for satellite communications, including sat phones and Garmin inReach’s. Not sure about airplane tracking, but there’s no reason they couldn’t put trackers on planes and have the iridium network pass it along (they have global coverage, unlike GlobalStar, which Spot devices use).

    EDIT: WOOOOOOO
