A chipless key may crank the engine, but the engine will stall after a few seconds. You can't drive the truck with it. Having a transponder key, properly coded to the truck, is absolutely essential.

You can disable the signal from the fob by holding the lock button and double tapping unlock.

I'm a cheap bast*rd, For $129, I'd pass and just take an old hitch drawbar, cut the ball mounting plate off & repaint it.

Good luck trying to break into a vault. Im a jman welder and I feel like we designed them very well.
The pins are well made but they are the weak point as someone with a cordless grinder can just cut the pin. Would be loud though and draw a lot of attention

Yeah I’m with you. Looks great and I’m sure it works well, but $129 for aluminum is a lot. I could bust my window out and pay $100 deductible to have it replaced

My key opens and starts the truck... No remote start or anything like that.
I have successfully taken 1/8" single strand copper wire and wired the ignition key/gas cap key to some out of the way frame component, covered in a stiff and huge gob of grease. The more dirt that sticks to it, the better.
I figure if I am stuck enough to consider bashing a window, it must be serious enough to crawl around in the dirt, fighting that gob of copper wire and filthy grease.

The aluminum is cheap, it’s the cnc machining and the laser cut stainless lids.

I was being generous with the deal Shipping is between $20-30 so you’d save a few bucks.

So, if you put your fob in a hitch vault and then touch the door handle, will the truck unlock?

That is a great question. That is ok for the owner but what about a thief? Maybe because of the vault casing the FOB will not transmit the signal at all.
