Spare key, options?

    Huh, maybe just the 4 cyl that don't have it, then? I can assure you mine does not have the chipped key.

    Spare non chipped key( one without the bulky plastic) is kept in my wallet which will open the door only in case I lock the chipped key inside. I also have the chipped key code in my phones contact list under a certain name in case I ever have to have one made for some unseen reason. This way I have the code with me all the time.

    Walmart nor Home Depot would make me a key, even just for the door. Had to go to Toyota, still only $5 for the non chip key.

    Just to be sure, you're saying that you can start the truck with the "door only" key if the chipped key is also in the proximity of the ignition?

    I have a no chipped key hidden under truck just in case i lock keys inside.
    Bought a console vault from a member here, when i surf i leave doors unlocked but lock keys, phone and wallet inside.

    I'm reading this thread while I wait for my wife to show up with the spare key. I was dumb. Forgot to remove the key from the ignition prior to exiting the vehicle and locking the door.:annoyed:

    When I am not scuba diving I'm sky jumping in between triathlons and around speedo model competitions, I keister my key to the Tacoma, but I understand that is not for everyone.
