    Hey guys,

I have a 2000 Taco SR5 extended cab and wondering if there's a special location for the tool used to lower the spare tire. Can't seem to locate any special places it should go. Appreciate any direction; thanks!

If you don't have a physical copy of an owners manual, you can find it here: https://www.toyota.com/owners/resources/warranty-owners-manuals

You should have a pouch with a lug wrench, and the crank located near your jack. I believe in an extra cab, that in one of the cubbies below the jump seats.

If you are missing your tire changing tools, I believe Dorman sells a kit for a decent price.

If you can't figure out how to use the tire changing tools (crank to lower the spare), close the tail gate, and you'll see a notch at the center below the gate/above the bumper- the crank goes in the hole all the way until it engages with the crank. Again, all covered in the manaul.

Not sure what you mean....finding the tool or finding the hole where it goes to lower the spare. With your tailgate fully up, look between it and the upper level of the bumper, in the center. There is a hole where it goes. Push it in until it stops and turn counter-clockwise.

Yeah, as previously mentioned, there should be a spot under the rear seats (near where the jack lives) that you can strap it down to

Thanks all! Yes, was just wondering where it would have been stored from the factory (besides sliding around in the bed).

Mine was strapped in a pouch in the Xtra cab cubbie, driver side. Unnecessary weight (still there) now that I’ve relocated the spare to a rear bumper mount.

You still need them to use the stock bottle jack- unless you plan on changing a flat tire with a high lift jack. Then yes, stock tools might be unnecessary.

Good catch. I do, but didn’t mean to confuse anyone else.
