    heres the deal...

i bought new wheels and tires...and i finally bought the spare to match...they are larger...

i went to lower my spare to change it out, so i lowered the spare, and removed it...then i went to put the wheel and raise the chain back up so i can go on my way...

well the hole in the new spare is larger than the ball that locks it in...

has anyone had this issue before, if so, what did you do to fix it...

i have already called toyota, advanced auto, autozone, and firestone, and my local aftermarket truck shop....noone has anything that can help this...

This might work for a temporary fix. Somebody else on here might have a better idea or might have run into the same problem your having.
Can you take of pic of the issue?

Will the spare work if you get a flat? Sounds like size might be different

If I understand this question correctly, the piece of metal at the end of the cable for the spare tire holder is too small for the new spare wheel. Yes??

Remove the original piece of metal and install one that will be of the correct length to hold your new spare wheel.

    Good luck.

all...i am going to work on this over xmas break with the family...we will rig something up...

the spare is now the same size as the other 4 tires...and yes, the metal piece isn't large enough for the new center hole of the new spare..

Good job thinking of this. This would be a good alternative to making a replacement piece of metal for the end of the cable.

The hub is too big? If the hub is too big it's the wrong rim. Something doesn't add up. 30.5" would be the rough diameter of a 265/70-16.

Holy shit, this thread could have given me less of a headache if we all used the correct terminology here.
