I have never used the spare tire hoist to lift a tire into place, only time was to let the oem spare down. I swapped it out for a full size spare and threw it in the bed. Yesterday I decided to put the spare back underneath until I go off road to free up my bed space. I know on the f-150 when you get it hoisted up tight the hoist kinda slips to keep from overtightening, my question is , does the Tacoma do this as well? Mine did not.

I pull my spare down a couple times a year, seems to me it will go as tight as you care to crank it.
