I see your points, thanks. I will mount it in the stock location. I’d hate for it to fly off and hurt anyone.

add to this, the strap will dry rot in the elements.

Vertical, strapped to the front bulkhead of the bed. Lower center of gravity than your present location, readily accessible when needed more so than when/if you blow a tire and you're stuck in soft sand or mud making an under the bed location an impossible extraction!

This is my spare 255/85r16 underneath. Hangs about even with frame sides and higher than the hitch receiver.

I have 35x12.50R17 on a 4Runner spare rim tucked under the bed of my truck. I know your supposed to show it off if you have a full sized spare but I prefer to have nothing in the bed

wow love it. What straps do you have the spare holding it up? Is that the only thing holding it up? Also, what shackle hangers are those?

Just beat the tabs under the bed with your mini sledge. If you are running 33s, you should be good at hammering metal parts out of the way by now.

It’s a car dolly tire strap drawn into a locking rachet type strap winch. Additionally it has a pin that locks it and prevents it from releasing while off-roading.
I have a Chevy 63” leaf spring swap they are just universal off road shackles.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Does not suit your setup, but I have mine bolted right through the bottom of my toolbox. Some added security and don’t have to crawl under the truck for a flat. Which I have done in very nasty offroad conditions and what a headache.

Toolbox is mounted over my rear axle to add weight there and I still have an equal amount of room in front of and behind the box for all of my camping/fishing gear for frequent trips. 6ft box on the Taco.
