If so, put some locking lugs on your spare :D

Didn't think spare tire theft was that common. The steel wheel and tire aren't worth that much, $150 or so. Most people don't put locking lugs on steel wheels.

Have you checked to see if the marina has a security camera?

Thanks everyone for the support and great suggestions. I stopped by the strealership yesterday to get a quote. So far for the rim, sensor, fitting kit & install $400 bucks and that is not including the tire :( I am thinking of going through insurance.

It will take a few miles for the tpms to sense that it's not there or reading. I'm wondering if the cable was actually attached or if there are limited key combinations such as with wheel locks. I'm going to guess that the thief did in fact put the mount back up as well.

I don't think a spare is that much to replace if you can get one at a pick and pull, it's just finding one that will fit the vehicle.

Never understood those... seems like a highly ineffective use of bed space

there definitely is. i had my light come on once and the pressure in all four tires checked out fine. brought it in and turned out to be the spare tire had lost pressure over the course of two years. who would've thought:rolleyes:

There are sensors in the spare for SOME years. I believe it's '05 thru '09 have them and 2010 and newer do not.

Simple way to check, look at the valve stem and you'll easily be able to tell if it's a TMPS or a regular stem.

Damn, that sucks! I have a 2010 5 lugger;gonna check if I have the sensor today! I think I might look into that lock, but there aren't too many Tacomas this close to Detroit.

Mine has one too, 2010, as already stated. Either way this is becoming seriously off topic. Check your spare and either be happily surprised or sadly disappointed, but

As I said above, my 2011 has one and I've seen it with my own eyes while dismounting the tire from the spare. It also makes the light come on every so often when the spare gets low.

Replying to another member here. Maybe they only kept them in the TRD models or something? I have a TRD OR with a 2/2011 build date. The light is actually on right now because of the spare, I've been too lazy to drop it and air it up.
