^ Well that's true. A dedicated trail rig that gets aired down every time doesn't benefit from TPMS. Daily drivers are another story.

I know people who daily drive their fully built rig.
Long as it doesn't have hydro steer, and your tires are balanced. It's safe to daily.

I'm sure the tpms is a great thing for people that don't check their tire pressure often or for piece of mind when there's a slow leak, but alot of us have driven without it for many years and have never had an issue of knowing when a tire has a leak or needs addition air. I would rather see it as an option. The expense of this system when needing fixing, replacement, reprogrammimg, new batteries, or change over on new wheels is absolutely ridiculous. So far in my experience the tpms has been a pain in the ass.

    Yep!

It was very thoughtful of them to reel the cable back up for you. There is no way the cable bracket came through the center of the rim.

    Are you just trolling?

I got my tires replaced, and Discount took care of all the sensors. Again, I didn't visit the stealership, and unless they snuck something in they didn't charge anything extra.

^ If you are just replacing tires, the TPMS sensors stay with the wheel. Not much for Discount Tire to do. It's only a hassle when you get new wheels, then the tire shop has to either transfer the sensors to the new wheels or sell you new sensors.

There is...first time the light came on a cold morning, all my regular tires were fine, then i thought the spare was low. Turns out it was. When that TPMS light comes on and all my regular tires look fine, i always check the spare first then the rest of the tires.

Mines an 08 someone says, 09+ or 10+ doesnt have em, but someone else had a 2010 and they have em.

There is - at least on a 2007 - I can confirm this. When I drive away from my house and the spare is not in proximity the TPMS light comes on because i no longer carry the spare - when I have the spare - no light.

Since buying my truck back in 07 the only time the tpms light goes on is in the winter on cold mornings. Every time it's the spare tire. I think what happens is the 4 tires on the truck heat up when driven but the spare stays cold...the resulting difference in pressure throws the system. If you wait to check after the outside temperature warms up all tires will show the same pressure. At least that's been my experience. I could be wrong but I think that's the reason Toyota stopped putting the sensors in the spare. For me the tpms has been nothing but a pita.

I am running 265/75R16 so I would replace the spare with the same size, since it was on my list to do. All I need is the rim with the TPMS. PM with what you want for the rim. Thank you.

I might put the same size tire on the spare rim so if you need it it would drive the same but the TPMS doesn't care about tire sizes only pressure differences.

OP...was your spare mounted valve stem down? The reason I ask is I wonder if it's possible that they just lowered the air pressure enough to slide the bracket on the end of the cable through the wheel? That would explain why the cable was still hanging at the correct height. It's just hard to believe they would have spent the time to lower the cable and then wind it back up.
