2 probably dumb questions about 2017 Off Road spare tires.

Does the spare come with a TPMS sensor?

Will a 265/70/17 KO2 wheel fit in the normal spare tire spot?

    Thanks.

I got a nail in my tire a month ago and had to put the spare on. No TPMS on my 2016 Sport spare tire. Also, my spare is a steel wheel.

No and yes up to a 285 will fit. Unless your switching out spare during rotations no need for tpms i wouldnt think. You will just get an error message until you go to tire shop.

Got a nail in the right rear tire. After putting on the spare, I put the nail tire in the bed and the TPMS read the pressure like it was still on the truck. I don't use the spare during rotations because the steel wheel looked pretty ugly on the truck.

That funny you said this my tire shop broke my tpms and replaced it but put broke one in glove box. I went back to tire shop multiple times because it kept reading the old one about every minute and would switch from 32 psi to zero. Took 3 trips and about 6 hours of programming until the master programmer figured it out.

I asked my tire shop to please be careful with the TPMS. Told them after they patched the tire, to throw it in the bed and I would put it back on myself. So they knew I was picky.

Thanks! I want to rotate 5 full size tires, should I get a 5th TPMS for the 5th tire?

The one with tpms placed in spare storage will still read so you wont get an error message. But if the tire that was slare thats now on truck gets low you wont know. So thats up to you plan on spending about 125$ for a shop to install/program so your choice. Plus does your rim match? If not theres another 150$ for a rim. I would if i planned to rotate 5. But ive never done that and never will

Does anyone know if a truck can have 5 tpms programmed? I wonder how it tells where the tire is as in front left vs front right. Best bet is to call local tire shop and get quote and ask the questions then decide if its worth it

The 3rd gen only has room for 4 to be programmed. You can still add a 5th to your spare, but you would have to add/remove sensor IDs from the system through techstream or with a handheld programmer every time you rotate if you want the system to function as intended.
