My spare tire is a few inches smaller than my others and i have a few questions
    1) If i have to use the spare to get to a tire shop how bad would it affect my other ones
    2) If it will ruin them can you mount a 30" tire as the spare
(I can get a free 30" tire but it has low tread but if i need to i can mount it on the spare as a backup)

If your flat is on the rear, rotate one of the front tires to the rear, put the spare on the front, and keep it in 2wd.

It's not optimal because you're still connected to the front diff, but it'll survive to get to a shop. Also expect your ABS and VSC to throw a fit.

I would imagine a 30" should fit, but I think 33's won't clear the frame, why you see so many spares mounted in the bed on 4x4s.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to see if the extra tire is still good but if not its good to know it wont be horrible.

as other dude said, run it on the open diff. the front. unless you have elocker rear is fine as long as your unlocked. for simplicity sake replace the spare to a full size.

good advice, but us cool 1st gen kids dont have vsc :D

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
I have 265/75R16's on 16" wheels. I had America's Tire look at my spare and they said it looked like the original...so 16 years? I had them put new rubber on the 15" wheel - the biggest that would fit up in the normal spare location. They put on 31x10.50R15 and said that in an emergency situation, it would work just fine to get me to a shop.

So the tire was bad so I'll stay with the stock spare for now. Thanks for the advice! I don't know if I should make another thread or not but if I do get a flat my stock Jack isn't tall enough to lift the tires which if I do get a flat (knock in wood) I would be stranded. Do you guys have any recommendations on a new jack?

Carry a block of wood in jack cubby.

Undercarriage spare tire mount can be modified to fit larger. My aftermarket hitch is in the way.
