spare tire size question?????

    can you run a smaller sare tire in an emergency on a 09 4x4????
    im running 285/75/16 and have a 265/75/16 spare???

    Yes and no. It's not advised. There's no problem really if your run different size tires in the front IF you are in 2wheel drive and you HAVE TO; it's not good to have different size tires on the rear tho. If I was in a true emergency I'd use the smaller spare if it was my only option. Do not use the locker while running different sized rears either.

    Go to a used tire place and just get the right size spare for like $40 mounted and balanced, probably less if they'll take a trade off your current spare.

    You can cut the holding tabs underneath to store your oversize spare in the normal place, or just strap it down in the bed.
