Anyone put a 17" wheel in the same stoke spare tire location? Any issues?

    It is all the same.

The only issue is if you go with a larger diameter tire. I had to bend out the tabs a bit to fit a 32in spare. About the biggest that you can get in there is a 33 without doing more work as it will rub on the diff.

My '06 has stock 17" tires with a matching size spare. The spare is carried between the rear diff and the rear bumper. There is not a lot of extra room but it fits neatly.

    Tires are 265/65-17

I went with 17" wheels and never got a 17" spare. Now that I am putting new tires on, I thought I would take the best one and mount it as a spare. Just need to get a single 17" steel wheel.

The size of the wheel is irrelevant.
The important factor is that the spare tire is the same diameter as your other tires (or very close).

    Yeah. You have no issues.

I did flip my spare over so that I have easy access to the valve stem. If you put the stem anywhere toward the front, you will have no worries.
