Those are from quality escapes in material or workmanship. And it's easy to proof load the crimp to, say, 500 lbs during cable manufacture. Arguably, had Toyota used chains during those years, they'd probably suffer from corrosion and bad welds too.

 

I disagree and will leave it at that. Why do you think they are going back to chains?

It isn't price cable and crimp collars are cheaper. It is because of the failure rate of cables over time.

Ah...no way....chains are cheaper.....I have yet to see a ski lift or tram suspended by chains.....every link is a potential weak spot.....Chinese chains are nototiously made of soft metal and fail easily.....the Chinese are smitten by LEAD. They put it in EVERYTHING. Screws.....bolts....chains....it makes it easier for THEM to cut, shape, etc. Terrible for YOU.
