Spare tire

Hey guys I have a method nv and wanna put it under the truck as a spare. Will it work?

 

Probably depends on the tire size. You'll have to remove the center cap obviously. I bet it'll work. It's going to be dirty as all get out if you don't remove to clean every once in a while. A lot of guys rotate them into the rotation also.

 

Cool thanks just wanted to make sure because just want a matching spare wheel if I ever need to use it.

 

I have no experience, but want to do it eventually as well. Hopefully someone who has will chime in with tips.

 

So what size tire are you trying to fit under there? Pretty sure a 33" is the largest you can fit.

Do a search and there is plenty of threads on this. You gonna have to hammer in those fork looking hangers underneath. Depending on exact measurements as some are 32.8" and some are more than 33" it may rub your rear diff and/or exhaust.

 

It can fit a 33 with some modification of the tabs. They need to be hammered or cut off. The tire may still rub on the diff/pumpkin. Use a ratchet strap and secure to the bumper to pull it away from the diff.

My 2nd gen was a year old when I got it. The guy before swapped out wheels and put a same size spare under. It was turned so you could reach the valve stem from underneath. Really easy to keep the pressure current. Wondering if that's something we can do with the stock spare.

 

No, it wont fit... Mount it on the roof

 

32" will fit 33" will fit with mods.
I had to remove the chain and move it about an inch back towards the tailgate. And hammer the driver side tab away.

I was hitting diff and exhaust. Now I'm clear but very close .

Rim wise I don't see why it wouldn't as long as you remove centre cap.
