For those of you running 35s, where do you put your spare?

thinking about getting the cbi t3 high clearance rear bumper without the swing arms but the Wilco off-road hitch solo and the Rigd ultraswing seem to not be able to work. Been on the phone with all three of them most of the day.

I got the short bed OR because I wanted an MT and when I go off-road space is a premium especially with two kids so needed to solve the spare tire problem. I have a tire repair kit but who wants to fix a flat in the rain with two crying kids in the car but that might be my only option at this point.

i looked at the hitch swingaways at the overland expo last year, and while i believed them that 33's would work, I think if they are saying no 35s I would take their word on it. I run a 285(almost 33) and I am going with a purpose built swingaway from victory... i have their sliders, and a non swingeaway rear that I will be selling when the new swinger and a high clearance fron gets here. I like their stuff.

CBI makes nice stuff too, I have their bed bars holding my tent up. but shop around. lots of good options, with more appearing....

Get a Bruteforce HC with swingout. Best looking rear bumper and way cheaper than the rest.

Tire on a bed rack, tire strapped down to bed, or swingout. Basically your options with a 35.

It's easier for those that have a shell but just leave it laying flat in the bed until you need room. Then you can prop it up against the headboard and tie it down. Tire gates work too but you'll be dragging it when you go off-road.

You can't. Even aired down. You'll hit your diff and hitch mount. On the roof or trailer hitch mounted are your options.

Here is a viable option: https://www.rigdsupply.com

Have you seen @DrWeld mount? If bed space is available, his mount is legit.

I was able to fit a 285s or 33s under the bed of my truck where the stock spare went. And I have a tow package, so the tow bar is right there too. You need to smash and bend two of the metal pieces under the truck in the spare tire rim. You need a brass hammer and you need to hit them really hard twice to bend it back about half way for both of them. A friend was kind enough to help me out. He knew what he was doing.

You can, not even aired down! Its easier if you relocating the tire hoist but that isn’t completely necessary. It will require some hammering and finagling.

I know Rigd’s so hot right now, but for the money I say fuck it, save get something that doesn’t reduce departure angle. Plus you can run into other cars at the mall and brag about your back up lights blinding people.:luvya:

I took some pictures for those who want to fit their spare 285's/33's under the bed while i had opportunity when my truck was up in the air.
What you got to do is take a heavy brass hammer (or a Big 3lb hammer) and smash and bend these metal pieces backwards like this

Once done, it should fit like this 285 spare
