I used to work with a guy who religiously had his oil changed at a Jiffy Lube, with synthetic, every 3000 miles. They had him CONVINCED that he'd pop his motor if he went any longer. I tried for YEARS to get him to stop wasting money, he had a 100 mile/day commute. As far as I know, he still does the same thing to this day. I told him for his car, which was meticulously maintained, he could get 8000 miles out of an oil change. He just wouldn't bite.

I use Mobil One synthetic oil (swapping to Kirkland synthetic on the next oil change), and I keep a 5K change interval. Old habits die hard...lol

Do yourself a favor, send an oil sample to Blackstone Labs. They'll analyze it for you and suggest how much ad pack is left in the oil, which will give you an idea of how much longer you can run it. It's worthwhile to do it at least once or twice. I'm not saying it's 100% concrete evidence, but it'll clue you in if you're just wasting money.

I run 8k mile oil changes, not many short trips. I've gone out to 10k miles before.

I have always followed the manufacturer's recommendations when servicing for the most part. Oil changes I meet or do earlier. No 10k mile oil changes for this family.

Installing the correct plug is very important as well. My co-worker had installed fake iridium plugs in his Infinity G37x, one of the plugs failed and cracked a piston. 5000.00 later he has a used motor and on the road again.

I'm at 48k on original plugs. Well, due to lockdown and boredom ordered some last night.

Just changed mine to NGK G power platinum. Bought the truck with 140k on it. Has 172k now. NGK on one side, denso on the other, so I gotta assume they are the originals. The electrodes were basically gone. Runs WAY better. Felt fine before, but the power jump was about like when I pulled the 250 pounds of sand bags out of the back for the spring.

Kirkland (Costco) is produced by Warren Distribution. It's basically the same as the other products Warren produces....SuperTech, Amazon Basics, Meijer and others. It's good stuff. And that price is hard to beat

I use the same plug. Rig runs flawlessly on them.

30k is probably overkill. Mine have all looked great and gapped in spec at 30k. My dad went 60k on his and they looked fine. I’ll bet that 70k would be fine too.

3rd gen would be different? I don’t know anything about them.

I change plugs between 80,000 and 100,000 miles since they are Iridium Plugs. My oil changes are at 10,000 miles with Mobil 1. My trucks run great and the used oil analysis indicates a longer interval is okay. I will stick to 10,000 miles at its easy to remember. All my vehicles fit the normal service category.

It may be. But since the 1GR comes with copper plugs, changing them, or at least checking, cleaning and regapping aren't a bad idea every 30k. If you're using something other than a copper plug then you can push that out longer

If I’m checking them they are getting replaced. And don’t get me wrong, I still replace them on schedule - just saying it’s probably not a critical item like a timing belt.
