Im coming up on 30k miles, and will be replacing my spark plugs. V6 automatic. Just wanted to see if Toyotas plugs are they way to go or is there another brand that is superior. thanks for the help.

    ...too much shit to list.
Use Factory specified unless you are supercharged.

Denso SK20R11 or NGK ILFR6C11. Both can be purchased from online or in common auto parts store so as to avoid dealer markup.
    Gap at .043"

Denso iridiums. But once you see them you might not want to hide them. They just oose quality, almost like motor jewelry.

If you like spending 3-4 times the money for 0 gain, then yes, get the iridiums for your V6...

YA YA, its just a feel good thing! Like adding a lot of other things to your ride, CAI, TRD Sort exhaust? Probably not a big gain either but I like the sound when I get on it. Leather heated seats for me? Would be nice but a margin gain for me. Big tires, lift, new wheels, 4wd, YA YA margin gain as stock Prerunner works fine for me. Diamond ring for the wife? Margin gain for me except for the feel good feeling.

Just lavishing a little affordable love on BluTaco.

    IMHO
regular copper Denso from Toyota are the best choice for V6 (non-supercharged)
They clean well, they work, and they are not expensive.

This. In some cases, platinum plugs have given issues. OEM denso plugs are the best.

Most people who install iridium plugs get worse mileage from what I have read.

That said I have 4 brand new ones in the box....who wants them dirt cheap.

Just picked some up from camelback Toyota and were like 2.56 a piece....thought that was a decent price.

Shouldn't they be gapped around .040 ish? Does it matter?

Not to knock Camelback but I ordered plugs from them also, check the part nos. I got 5 of the correct part no. and one that was iridium. They fixed the problem and sent me the right part but just check your part nos. Also, 4 out of 5 that I did get were gapped correctly, I had to fix the 5th. So yes, it's important to gap your plugs, even if they claim to be 'pre-gapped'.

thanks for the thread... I have 73K on a 09 trd sport, dc short bed and was thinking of replacing the original plugs. When you buy the plugs they come with the correct gap?

Are most of you speaking of bosch plugs as your replacements?

    Hi,

No they don't always have with the correct gap. Always check the plug manufacturer's specification.

No Bosch plugs for me! NGK or Denso. I had combustion gas blow by between the insulators and metal body with new Bosch plugs on my '97 Contour V6 and changing the back ones is not fun!
