When I had my Dodge Ram Hemi (16 plugs) sometimes the dealer would run a special for $189 to change them out...was worth it to let them do it.

I rotate the air in my tires every other month. I think the truck has a little more zip because I do that.

A copper NGK plug is what Toyota has used for 30+ years and they are several dollars each. $199 is insane.

Injection cleaning at 30K? If your worried about it buy a bottle of BG 44K and run it through for $23. That is the best stuff you can buy. Period.

Its been said multiple times here, 199$ is 169$ the dealer is stealing right out of your pocket.

My 09 had the factory NGK/Denso bank setup when i bought it at 130,000 kms still, that made me switch all my filters/oils out right away.

Only real word to the wise, the centre plug & coil pack on the drivers bank requires you to move/remove a short support brace, not particularly difficult in and of itself, but giving the 2 bolts a spray with penetrating oil will not go amiss, dissimilar metal corrosion will make it a little bitch to get loose.

Do it yourself, dealers are a bunch of dishonest pricks. My girlfriend came back from her first "free" oil change on her rav4 the other day and they charged her $40 for it. Not being standoffish she paid it without a word. I don't know whether to go down to the dealership with the invoice she has (which even says it is a toyota care change) and raise hell, or let it go and just never go back.

Unfortunately, I am very busy this time of year (taxes) and can't get down there any time they are open. Also unfortunately she isn't willing to raise hell like I am. I am about to send them an email with a copy of the invoice and tell them to make it right, or a copy of the invoice is going on the internet, as well as directly to Toyota corporate.

Post the bill (cover up personal/private info) on their Facebook page for all to see. I checked my wife's Sienna cabin filter, right after the Dealership "checked" it. It looked hideous, & disgusting. I posted the order showing the cabin filter was checked, along w/ a pic of the filter. The Dealership contacted us & apologized. Said the technician admitted to not checking it & he/she got written up.

Sorry to derail the thread there, in short I think you should do it yourself, and you will have some nice tools and money left over when you are done.

Probably right that the spark plugs will perform properly well after 30,000 miles, but I still like to change them on schedule to ensure the plugs never get a chance to seize in the engine block. Just good maintenance to regularly pull and replace the plugs.

They will never seize if you put anti seize on the threads before installing like you are suppose to

Different engines, different plugs. V6 is a little bit older design.

And I thought I was spending big money when I bought 4 platinum/iridium plugs for $50 for my Tacoma.

That price was out the door installed but still outrageous. Had the truck in for headlight/DRL replacement, and they did a great job in about 3 hours, and gave me a written quote on plugs. Thanked them and declined.

I change my plugs every 60,000 miles, I use a scan gauge and the is no MPG lose on starting issues between the 30 and 60 mile interval. My truck it at 90k now with 30,000 on the plugs my gas mileage and engine performance is great. I easily great an average of 19mpg per tank.
