I just changed out the spark plugs on my 2007 Tacoma Pre-Runner. The handbook said to only use iridium tipped spark plugs but i had already purchased platinum ones and had heard someone say that's fine. Figured i would ask on here and get more information.

    TIA

Return your platinum and pick up some iridiums as called for in the book

4 cylinder takes iridiums. 6 cylinder takes copper. Most use Denso.

    it will run on platinum

but as stated, better to get the iridiums the engine is tuned to use them
and maintenance intervals set up based on iridium lifetime

    never downgrade plug specification
