Please post a pic when you change them. If they aren't wasted I'll be blown away!!! Grounding electrode is probably all but gone.

Here's mine at 168k miles. I bought my 2005 a little less than a year ago and immediately did a bunch of maintenance to it. Pulled the plugs, and really wasn't surprised to see they were original.

also its worth mentioning that with a above average worn plug WILL cause the coil pack to work harder and there's a good chance of it failing. those coils arent cheap.. not as cheap as changing a $5 plug every 60K. my .02 cents.

Probably a good idea. There really wasn't any noticeable difference between those nasty plugs of mine and the new ones, but I'm sure there were benefits I'm not aware of.

I guess what I was getting at is even though the truck drove fine, it was still a good idea to change them, since Knotty was saying his stock plugs were still going strong.

I agree. I've actually learned quite a bit in this thread. It's been a good discussion.

Looks about what I'd imagine for that mileage. They look like they would've been flame throwers w/those nubby electrodes!
    Original coil packs?

I'm assuming the original coil packs! I just threw new plugs in 6 months ago when I bought it, and everything seems to be kosher so far.

Changed mine this past weekend for the first time @ 60k miles. Gap difference between new and old plugs was around .10 per plug. Only took just over an hour to do, not bad at all.

Cost savings is the only reason I can think of for why Toyota uses non-iridium plugs. I've got better things to do with my weekends than change spark plugs, so it's Iridium or nothing for me.

Seriously, the only difference between the two is a tiny little spot of iridium, which being tougher than the nickel of the stock plug makes them last longer. For less than $10 for 6 plugs I can't figure out why anyone would use stock ones.
