Sorry if this is a repost. I have a 2003 4cyl Pre-Runner with the 2.7 3RZ-FE. The engine runs superbly! I has nearly 167K miles on it. However, I did a tune-up this past summer and noticed that while there was no oil pooling in the spark plug tubes, the areas around the spark plug oil seals had a bit of a gelled yellow greasy substance on them, suggesting that the spark plug tube gaskets might be leaking/weeping a bit.

Anyone have any experience replacing the valve cover gaskets on the 2.7? Particularly post 2001? The officical factory Toyota service manual suggests lubricating the "lip" of new spark plug tube gaskets with grease/oil, whatever the lip is. I found no mention of this in the Haynes manual.
