Doing a plug/wire job on my 5VZ-FE. I ordered some NGK wires, all of which have different lengths just as the originals. Unfortunately I removed all the old wires before installing the new, one-by-one.

I know the firing order the wires must go in, I'm just wondering which specific wire is used for each position? Or does that even matter? NGKs come with the coil pack end labeled with I assume would be the cylinder number (1,5 & 3). However, when I hooked them up to those respective spots, the lengths seemed a bit odd. They all seem too long? They are the correct wires for the engine.

Does it really matter which particular wire is used as long as the firing order is correct?

As long as they are wired right it doesn't matter if the lengths aren't quite right, aftermarket wires are typically a bit longer than stock wires.

There's 2 different routings, don't know exactly what the year model break is though.

Thanks! I have a 2002, I have also found another diagram with a comment stating to count the cylinders between each connect to determine which length of wire to use. Each are different so all good! The later wiring orientation should help decrease the slack.

I can confirm that the aftermarket ones are sort of universal length. I run magnecor wires and they are a little on the long side. As long as you match the coil pack to the right plug, it really doesn't matter how they're arranged
